If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

25-02-19 Catriona is a 9 week old Cocker puppy. She is gorgeous but she is looking for a VERY special home. She was born with a condition called Sacrocaudal Dysgenesis. This means her spine has not formed properly towards the bottom where her tail would be, Catriona just has a little token bobtail. It also means that since her bottom end didn't all form together properly that she is incontinent - so cannot hold her bladder and bowels.
When Catriona first arrived it was clear she hadn't moved around much at all. She was weak and wobbly on her legs and she had laid so long in her urine that she had terrible urine burns all over her back end.
She went to a fosterer who started a routine of gentle washing, drying and applying cream and she is now looking far better. She has also been encouraged to move around and has gone from strength to strength. She can now walk, trot, run, play and jump just like any other pup - albeit she bunny hops when she is getting tired.
We have carefully been observing Catriona as many dogs with this condition are put to sleep due to the incontnence. We have no doubt at all Catriona has a good quality of life - this pup can play, chase, dance, cuddle and untie shoe laces like any other pup in the world. She loves to be loved, cuddles in close to you and enjoys being fussed. Now her skin is healing so well she is starting to wear a nappy for short periods and copes well with this. If not wearing a nappy then popping a towel or puppy pad on your lap means cuddle time is easily managed.
She does trickle a little and always will. She is doubly incontinent so she cannot feel herself poop either so sometimes a little will just pop out. It's not her fault, she cannot help it - it's just who she is and how she was made.
We are looking for someone who is wonderful to take Catriona and love her forever. This is a lifetime condition with no cure.  You will need to have moppable flooring as she really wont be able to be in a nappy 24/7 or she will get sore again. She is good with other dogs, although she is a typical pup and will annoy them and want to play with them so needs a firm "no" when she gets a bit too full on! She could be an only dog in the right circumstances but she will cry when she's on her own and currently sleeps through the night with my teenage daughter.
She is special but is very clever and will need to go to puppy training classes and will still need to be spayed at the age of six months.

14-03-19 UPDATE

Cat is the life and soul of the party! She plays, runs and cuddles just like every other puppy in the world. She loves to go for walks and explore the world and could happily be rehomed with children or as an only dog. She shows no signs of disability other than needing to wear a nappy or have washable bedding/puppy pads around. When free to play she can trickle urine but it really is minor and easily mopped without any fuss and once you get to know her then you will adore her enough to not mind that. When Cat arrived we were advised to put her to sleep because she cannot have quality of life. If you spent 5mins with this amazing puppy the thought of putting her to sleep would be awful to you - she is so FULL of life and is grateful to be here. She is so ready to move on and enjoy her life, she just needs someone special to give her a chance.

21-03-19 UPDATE

Catriona is loving her walkies and really enjoys taking in all the new sights and smells of the big wide world. At home, she loves to play tuggy, can run after a ball and still likes to snuggle in close for puppy cuddles. She is used to nappies and is not showing any bad reaction on her skin wearing them. That said she has heaps of time without them and she is very easily managed!
This puppy is smart, beautiful, willing to learn and desperate to please you. Please dont be put off by her medical condition - she is so much more than that... she is a super dog.

Although CATRIONA^^ is by donation rather than the full adoption fee, we ask for a minimum donation of £100 to help cover the costs that have been incurred. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
