28-2-19  Amelia is just 6 months old and has already experienced such fear in her life she is a very scared and worried little dog.  It's so sad to see a little girl so unsure of everything that is going on around her.  Amelia has a large scar on her face which is possibily what's call a 'distemper scar'. In certain rural areas of Romania it's a custom to burn a dog's muzzle with a hot iron to 'ward off' distemper.  Amelia will need a lot of TLC to gain confidence and settle in to home life. We are looking for an experienced home who have had scared dogs like her before.  She will need an adult only home and at least one other kind confident dog to live with to help her adjust and who MUST be happy for her to snuggle up and share their beds.  She will know nothing of house training or lead walking so you will need to have endless patience to help her.   Amelia has a passport.

04-03-19 UPDATE

Amelia was lucky enough to be picked to go to a foster home. This his her just a few hours after arriving.  Whilst she is scared she loves to be with you and in a calm and peaceful home she is going to love her new life.

27-03-19 UPDATE

I have had Amelia here for nearly 4 weeks, she is improving but very slowly, whilst she loves my dogs, she is very mistrustful of humans. But on the plus side there is improvement, house training is coming along, she is now brave enough to venture into the garden. I can stroke her but only if she chooses to come and lie on the sofa which she does most nights, but I cannot approach her and I don’t unless I really need to. Whoever adopts her needs patience but they are going to have such a sweet lovely girl eventually, she must go with another dog preferably more than one.

05-04-19 UPDATE

Amelia is improving and is starting to enjoy a walk but only in very quiet places. She travels well and house training is pretty much sorted now.
She still won’t approach me but doesn’t panic if I need to approach her and will take a treat from me now.
She loves all dogs that visit and loves to play. She is so gentle and has a cheeky side coming out. She can be left for a few hours with another dog for company.

20-06-19 UPDATE

Amelia is so easy to live with, she must have another dog to play with preferably size appropriate as She is tiny.  She loves going for walks and I take her to agility shows with me and as long as she has her buddy with her she is fine and will happily walk amongst people and dogs.  She will take treats from people who approach her calmly.  I have started to teach her a few things and she does try hardbut the smallest amount of pressure and she panicks.  Out on walks she is off lead and has a great recall.  It will take time and patience to gain her trust but when she trusts you she is super easy.

The adoption fee for an adult dog (6 months and over) is £220 and for a puppy is £250, However if the dog has a passport you will be given this when you adopt and we ask for a further £20 to help us buy a passport for another dog. You will find a break down of what the adoption fee covers under our Adoption Procedures (see link below) If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
