If you are interested in adopting a dog that does not say it can be homed with a cat and wish us to cat test please let us know and we will be happy to do this.

5-9-19  Leema came to us from a breeder.  He is such a good boy who gets on well with other dogs and enjoys going for walks on the lead. He needs a kind person to look after him as he is a little bit nervous with people at first so he needs someone to teach him humans are ok. Leema will need a home with at least one other dog to help him settled into his new life and who he can watch and copy to help him with house training.  He is going to be a lovely lad to have in your life so if you can offer him a wonderful home please apply.

22-09-19 UPDATE
Leema is a lovely boy with a heart of gold. Today, Leema and I ventured out to the Many Tears garden where he got to exercise his excellent nose and sniff around in the grass. He is quite quiet but he is very friendly with a kind nature.
Leema loves to play with squeaky toys and enjoys a yummy treat every now and again.
He can be quite excitable around other dogs so he would be best matched with a dog larger than him to teach him basic manners. The dog already living in the home would benefit him as they would be able to bring him out of his shell around humans and help him to learn how to live in a home with a loving family.

23-09-19 UPDATE

Today I got to spend a little time getting to know Leema, what a lovely boy he is! When I entered the kennel he came straight up to me and let me smoothe him. We then went out for a walk in the garden - he did very well despite being slightly nervous around loud noises but I'm sure with a little time and a resident dog he will soon be braver.
Leema doesn't yet like taking treats from my hand but he did only meet me today! He did however devour them when I left him to eat them on his own, as you can see from the picture he loved them!! Leema is looking for a home where he can finally start enjoying his life and where he can learn to trust humans a bit more than he does right now, although he was quite confident in his kennel on the outside world he can become moderately anxious so would need someone who has the time to work with him and get him to start trusting humans.
When Leema finds his way in the big world I know he is going to be the most amazing boy, bringing so much joy to the lucky family who take him into thier lives.

29-10-19 UPDATE

Leema is a very sweet little boy and although he was wary of me today when I went to see him, he did still have a waggy tail he just didn't want to come up to see me.  However it was the first day I met him so I do understand .  I think with time and patience he will learn to trust us all. Poor Leema has been with us a while now, if you have plenty of time and another dog to help him, please give him a chance

PLEASE NOTE: We nearly always home dogs who have come from breeders where there is ALREADY A RESIDENT DOG living in the house. They have usually never lived in a house before and are only used to canine company. They usually get their confidence and learn faster with another dog to copy from. This also helps with house training and learning how to walk on a lead. They will make lovely pets but do need a lot of love, time and patience. If the ex breeding dog you are interested in can be an only dog it will say so in its write up. Please read our information on ADOPTING EX-BREEDING DOGS before you apply.

The adoption fee for an adult dog (6 months and over) is £220 and for a puppy is £250, However if the dog has a passport you will be given this when you adopt and we ask for a further £20 to help us buy a passport for another dog.
Large breed dogs over 25kg cost us considerably more  to spay and neuter so if you are adopting a large breed dog we would be very grateful of an extra suggested donation of £10 towards this increased cost to help us keep running.
You will find a break down of what the adoption fee covers under our Adoption Procedures (see link below) If your application is successful you will be home checked and you, all members of your family and any dog(s) who will be living with the dog MUST come to meet the dog you want to adopt. All our dogs are micro-chipped, have had at least their first inoculation and are spayed/neutered unless there is a medical reason for not doing so. You must have a safe means of transporting the dog home in a crate or if this is not possible please discuss with Many Tears or the Fosterer when your application is being processed.

In certain circumstances and in particular when it is one of our long term stayers or a dog who is difficult to home we may transport it down the M4 as far as Reading if the adopter is not able to travel for a valid reason. This will only happen on a Sunday and will be part of our Foster Run where we transport dogs to their foster homes. There will be and additional charge of £20 transport fee for this and the adopter must be able to travel to the allocated service station. Please think very carefully before asking for a dog to be transported as if you already have a dog there is no guarantee they will get along with the new dog or vice versa and you will need to be able to hold on to the dog until the following week and meet the van again if you wish to return the dog.

Please read our adoption procedures before applying and then complete the adoption form.
